Robert and Jen Long live in Mustang, Oklahoma with their daughter James. Jen has spent the past 8 years working in foster care and has personal and professional experience working in the child welfare field. This includes experience as a case worker, a foster parent, and a respite care provider for foster children, including foster children with special needs. Robert received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and has been working as a pediatric physical therapist since graduating. He has over 4 years of experience working with children with special needs as a physical therapist. In their experience, Robert and Jen found the families of children with special needs often wished they had access to the kinds of sensory equipment found in a clinic outside of therapy time. They also found children with special needs often struggle with acceptance and understanding at traditional daycares, play places, and camps leaving families without access to inclusive activities for their children with special needs. When they came across We Rock the Spectrum while searching for resources for their clients and patients, they knew they found something special that their community needed.
They are excited to open a place where all children and families can play and feel accepted.
